MANAGING CHANGE
In support of change, individuals must contribute their
expertise and capacity, their creative thinking skills
and teamwork; managers, in turn, must positively reinforce
employees' ideas, undertake proactive strategies to generate
alternatives, encourage experimentation, practice open
communication, reward changed behaviors, and model the
changes being advocated. These are a few of the critical
components needed for managing change successfully.
If change is to be successful, employees cannot be passive
recipients of change, but must be actively engaged in
steering its course. Any organization can innovate once
or twice. But we believe the key is to transform the
single, occasional act of innovation into an everyday
occurrence by forging a culture of natural creativity
and willingness to generate change. Flexibility, innovation,
entrepreneurial behavior, focused energy and accountability
are required skills for successful change and essential
in today's dynamic environment.
